Exploring Desert Ruins

Exploring Desert Ruins

I'm back in Tucson, for another solo winter camp. This time, at a new Hipcamp, just outside Saguaro National Park. Best of all, Gunther has recovered from his bladder stone surgery and joining me! On the way down from Phoenix, we take a little detour into the desert to explore the ruins of an old mining town, and then grab some pizza and beers, before heading off to camp.

Martha is an SUV camper who shares her passion for DIY, camping, and gardening on social media platforms. Despite navigating a tight budget, Martha's dedication to health, ease, and sustainability shines through in every post. Her "solo" camping is a bit different from others. She is not alone in her outdoor adventures; Gunther, her lovely dog, accompanies her on most trips, adding an extra dose of companionship and joy to her adventures. Gunther has recovered from his bladder stone surgery lately, and they embarked on a new journey of exploring desert ruins.

Tucson is a vibrant city renowned for its rich cultural heritage, stunning desert landscapes, and year-round sunshine. As Arizona's second-largest city, Tucson offers a unique blend of Southwestern charm, modern amenities, and outdoor adventures. It is not a strange place to Martha. This time, she visits the remainder of the back end of the Hotel Rockland, and the Sasco building remains.

Seeing the remains of the SASCO building evokes Martha's complex array of emotions, stirring a deep sense of nostalgia and reflection. The remnants stand as silent witnesses to a bygone era, where the echoes of bustling and vibrant community life still linger in the air.

"In this rubble, there's a sense of resilience," Martha remarked, her voice tinged with reflection. "It's like a reminder that life goes on despite the setbacks. Every brick and beam tells a story, you know? They've weathered storms, witnessed triumphs, and endured hardships. It makes me think about all the ups and downs this place must've seen over the years." She paused, her gaze sweeping across the remnants of the building. "But through it all, there's a spirit of resilience that still lingers here. It's a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the enduring legacy of this community."

As the sun dips below the horizon, casting hues of gold and pink across the sky, Martha notices the clouds starting to burn off. The evening breeze is chilling out, with a hint of freshness invigorating the senses. As night falls, Martha cozies up in the car with her faithful companion, Gunther, by her side and makes herself a special drink, warming her from the inside out. With each sip, she feels a sense of contentment wash over her, grateful for this moment of tranquility amidst the beauty of the desert ruins. With Gunther nestled beside her and a delicious drink in hand, Martha is reminded once again of the simple joys that can be found amid nature's embrace.

Martha started her new day by relishing the flavor of coffee, filling the air with its comforting fragrance. With the Joulle portable kettle Pot at her side, Martha knows she doesn't have to worry about traveling in inadequate conditions. Its innovative design ensures that she can enjoy a perfect cup of coffee no matter where her adventures take her.
